Postdoc Opening

Investigator: ,
Affiliation:Section on Cell Biology and Signal Transduction, NICHD
Position Type:Postdoctoral Fellowship

We are seeking a highly trained junior Postdoctoral fellow with hands-on experience in electrophysiology in cells, brain slice preparation and/or isolated nerve preparations. The position is open in Section on Cell Biology and Signal Transduction, Division of Intramural Research, NICHD, NIH.

Research in this laboratory is devoted to understanding mutual signals between neural circuits and glial cell networks in the brain and peripheral nerves using physiological and imaging approaches. Projects are focused on investigating astrocytic signals associated with neural activity and Schwann cell signals during action potential propagation. Physiological recording in conjunction with multi-photon confocal microscopy will be used to measure glial cell signals.

Candidates will have less than 3 years postdoctoral training but have hands-on experience in electrophysiological techniques. Experience in the brain slice preparation and/or confocal microscopy is a plus. This Intramural laboratory is fully funded and equipped with most modern imaging and physiology devices capable of simultaneous physiological measurements and multi-photon confocal microscopy.
